AD73 Accessing Athletic and Recreational Facilities

To establish the parameters for the use of athletic and recreational facilities at all University locations.
This policy is not applicable when such facilities are used for authorized events (ticketed or non-ticketed) which are designated for the public to attend.
It is the policy of The Pennsylvania State University that all Athletics and Recreational facilities when used for intercollegiate athletic programs, will be accessible only by those University athletes and athletic personnel authorized to access such facilities (or areas within a larger facility), and only during their normal hours of operation. A valid University identification card is required to gain access.
Recreational facilities (when not used for intercollegiate athletic activity) are accessible via membership only by those individuals with a valid University student or faculty/staff/trustee/retiree identification card, programmed to allow proper access to such facilities. Members will also be allowed a limited number of guest passes (one guest at a time).. The sponsoring member will be responsible for their accompanied guest at all times while in the facility. The facilities are available only to persons over the age of 18, except for matriculated students who might not yet be 18, and participants in a registered youth program during that program’s scheduled activity. Membership fees or daily guest rates may apply for certain services, or access to recreational facilities. Additionally, a campus may choose to sell a limited number of memberships to its recreation facilities to current members of the Penn State University Alumni Association; usage limitations such as hours and number of available memberships will be determined by the Campus official in charge of the recreation facilities. All fees charged in accordance with this Policy shall be at rates approved by the University’s Office of the Corporate Controller in compliance with University Policy AD15. Access to such facilities will only be authorized during the time each facility is specifically designated as being open/available for use.
While open, these facilities shall have the appropriate staff on duty to oversee operations being conducted at that facility.
Use of these facilities by individuals or groups other than those specified above must be requested in writing, and approved by the appropriate facilities office responsible for access to the athletic and/or recreational facility being requested.
