    POLICY:

All requests for cable television connections providing service to any University facility must be reviewed and approved by Telecommunications and Networking Services. No installations, new connections, or additional services shall be made without such review and approval. Telecommunications and Networking Services will coordinate all such requests with the Purchasing Services and/or other appropriate organizations.

    TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKING SERVICES:

Telecommunications and Networking Services is responsible for reviewing and approving all requests for cable television service. Telecommunications and Networking Services will coordinate the location of new cable lines to be installed. Telecommunications and Networking Services shall assist and participate in all negotiations with the cable television supplier.

    PURCHASING SERVICES:

Purchasing Services is responsible for establishing and maintaining the contract between the supplier of cable television services and the University. Purchasing Services will negotiate pricing and terms and conditions after consultation with all major users of the system and with Telecommunications and Networking Services.

    PROCEDURES:

Academic and administrative units wanting to obtain cable television service shall contact Telecommunications and Networking Services. Upon receipt of a request, a representative will work with the originator of the request to define the nature of service desired. With concurrence of the Purchasing Services and all appropriate organizations, Telecommunications and Networking Services will then coordinate the installation of a service connection. If service is locally available and the signal is adequate, that installation will be made. If an upgrade to the existing cabling system is required to provide an adequate signal, Telecommunications and Networking Services will determine if these conditions are acceptable and in the best interest of the University.

The local installation costs and monthly service costs of any expended cable television services will be borne by the academic or administrative unit requesting the service.
